Debra’s Chinese Sweet & Sour Sauce

In my opinion, this is probably one of the most popular sauces served in
Chinese Restaurants.

Ingredients

15 ml of vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, finally chopped
1 spring onion, but into short sections
1 small green pepper, seeded and diced
1 fresh red chilli, seeded and thinly shredded
15 ml light soy sauce
30 ml light brown sugar
45 ml rice vinegar
15 ml tomato paste
120 ml of chicken or veg stock
Bamboo Shoots
Grated ginger
Heat the oil in a clean wok
Add the garlic, spring onion, green pepper, red chilli & grated ginger
Stir fry for 40 seconds
Add the soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, tomato paste and stock
Bring to the boil, stirring constantly
Add the bamboo shoots

Best served HOT with your favourite ‘whatever’!
