Jenny Parker – Guest Post on LOVE

Today I would like to share a Message/Sermon given by a fellow Christian Woman!

The state of the world is a cause for concern; constant strife; conflict and hatred amongst people that are flooding the world like an ominous wave.
The evidence that God loves us is irrefutable.  God gave His best, His most precious, His Son – Jesus to show His love by a deed.
In 1 John: Chapter 4 we read;
“This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins”.
Can you imagine if any one of us were asked to give up one of our children to save the sinners of the world?
Do you think that you could do that?
Think about that for a moment, and put yourself in God’s position – surely you must be convinced of the extent of God’s love for us?
Is it not then fair and the very least that we can do, to love God? with all our heart and all our soul!  More than our sincere love He does not expect – but neither anything less.
Our Love should be ALIVE!
We read in 1 John: Chapter 3
“Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth”.
Love in action is more than only doing good deeds.  True love is steadfast, sincere and unselfish and embraces the qualities of truth, loyalty and integrity.  Such values enrich the thinking and the spirit of man.  Love cannot be bought, begged or borrowed; that is why TRUE LOVE is so infinitely precious.
True Love, of ALL human emotions, is the strongest and most noble!
True Love, embraces sacrifice and is often painful..
True Love, seeks no reward. It is satisfied with just giving.
Love, loyalty and generosity of Spirit are beautiful gifts people give to us every day!
We should answer these with our own acts of grateful love!
There is NO substitute for Love.  Love is essential to live completely and fully.
In 1 John:  Chapter 4 we read
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because, God is Love”.
I think that people who face life with a cheerful spirit have a heart in harmony with God.  If we share everything with God, He shares His most precious and greatest give – Love!
Love will live in our spirit and is reflected through our entire lives….
To say that you love God and yet refuse to help lighten the burden of others in distress is a denial of that love.  If we could learn to Love as God loves, the world problems would move closer to a solution.   Most people accept this truth – yet, they refuse to use it in practice because it demands faith, courage and sacrifices.
Love should never be taken for granted but expressed in words.  When you can say in all sincerity; “I love you” and it involves your heart and mind totally, you strengthen the bond in your relationships.  This applies also to your relationship with God.  Speak to Him!!!   Tell Him that you love Him; let Him become a living reality in your life and you will develop a balanced and self-assured spiritual life.
I would now like to share with you some answers given by children aged 4 – 8 years old on what LOVE means to THEM! 🙂
Billy:  Age 4
When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.  You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.
Mary-Anne:  Age 4
“Love is when your puppy licks you face even after you left him alone all day”.
Nikki:  Age 6
“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend whom you hate”.
Mark:  Age 4
Mark’s neighbour was an elderly gentleman who recently lost his wife.  Upon seeing the man cry, Mark went into his garden and climbed up onto his lap and just sat there.  When his mother asked Mark what he had said to the neighbour, he replied:  “Nothing, I just helped him cry”.
In conclusion, I would like to put these questions to you?
  • Do you believe with steadfast, unshakable faith that God loves you and cares for you?
  • Do you love your neighbour as you love yourself?
  • Do you sincerely love God?

Sincere and honest answers may motivate you to pursue a new, strong and meaningful life based on your love for God.

O God of Love, with all our love, we commit to you our spirit, out body and our soul.
Lord we pray that you will teach us – which it is the gift of our love which makes everything else acceptable to you.
