Why? Questions, Questions …..
Sometimes when we ask God or Why questions, instead of giving us answers He gives us himself, the Comforter.
From Luke 11:13 even as a father gives good gifts to their children, so our Father gives the best gift, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to us as we ask.
It reminded me of conversations with my children about why they couldn’t sleep over at a friend’s hose. ”I can give you my reasons, but you won’t like them or understand them, and you would only argue with me. So let’s just accept that this is the way it is going to be.” Is it a little like that, Lord? Only without the impatient tone of voice ….?
And from the same conversation: Often when we ask God for guidance, what we really want is a guide.
A friend told me of a conversation he had with his young son shortly after they had moved into their new house. ”You can find your way to your new bedroom in the dark by simply turning on the lights in each room as you go”. There was an uncertain pause, then, ”But, Daddy, won’t you please go with me?”.
We always feel safer if we ‘know’ that our Daddy is there with us!
Thank you Jesus that we can stand on Your Word, knowing that you are always there for us and with us!
”Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”
