Exchange despair for Praise!
Looking at the heading, who would think that we would next be talking about laundry ~ hee hee
Despite modern conveniences, some aspects of laundry day never change. Husbands still carry nails, the wing nut from last year’s lawn mower as well as springs and sprockets from various machines – all sorts of mechanical equipment they never use but are loath to part with. ‘I might need it sometime. Be sure to keep it’. Does this sound familiar? 🙂
I have also become an expert at patching pockets. As I mend the holes and reinforce the seams, I am reminded of all the worries, fears, anxieties and doubts we carry around from week to week without really noticing them. Suddenly the accumulated weight becomes too much, and we break under the strain.
Why … oh why do we do this?
We need to develop a habit of ’emptying our pockets of life’, so to speak. We must spread out our feelings before the Lord, by prayerfully sorting things through and asking Him to dispose of the ‘nonsense’ in our lives.
By doing this, we will discover that we have exchanged
our ‘spirit of despair’
for a ‘garment of praise’ . (Isaiah 6:13)
