The gospel in a nutshell

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life

~ John 3:16

Jesus Christ had an exceptional ability to express the gospel in the simplest terms possible so that even the simplest person could understand it, and yet, the profound nature of the message was never lost.  The main topic of his message was always the eternal and constant love of God….

God is Love.  Whoever lives in love, lives in God and God in him. 1 John 4:16

In order to be allowed to share in his love, we must first open our hearts to Him …

“If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.  My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him”         John 14:23

Love for God presupposes obedience to Him, and allowing his Spirit to reign over each aspect of your life and to central to your thoughts and deeds.

To declare: “GOD IS LOVE!” is much more than a simple and possibly sentimental confession of faith. It requires a particular way of life which has to be a confirmation of that unspoken faith in the immeasurable love of God that was confirmed by the coming of Jesus Christ.

Consequently, we must once again ponder the birth of our Saviour during every Advent-time, we must purify our festivities so that it will truly be a Christ-feast, and we must once again devote ourselves to the Child of Bethlehem.

The coming of Jesus Christ to this world was the final and incomprehensible proof that God cares.
