Is Life Worthwhile when everything seems to go wrong?

Sadness

When the one drab, humdrum day follows the other with tedious regularity and it seems as if your life has no meaning or purpose, it is easy to develop the attitude that nothing in life is worthwhile.

If this is your unfortunate experience, it proves that you are busy losing your grip on life – or that you have already lost it.  I know this sounds harsh… but read on!  Life must have purpose and significance if you are to live meaningfully.  How is it possible to develop such a depressed attitude?  (For some people, quite easy …)  Maybe you have been doing the same work for year, and as far as you can see you will be doing it for many years to come.  What, you may justifiably ask, is the use of thinking that circumstances will change?  You feel as if you are trapped in a dead-end street from which you will never be able to escape.

One of the facts of the Christian REBIRTH is that it changes your attitude towards life.  While you previously lived without hope or expectation, Christ now plants new hope in your heart and makes all dejection and despair disappear. (This doesn’t happen overnight, but with time ….) I can vouch for this – it does happen, it happened to me and to many, many other fellow brothers and sisters in Christ).

When you truly start living in Christ, you look with new eyes of understanding and love at life This new concept of life that is conveyed by Christ gives life meaning, so that you should never have to ask: “Is it worthwhile to live?”.

When the powerful thoughts of Christ fill you and the Holy Spirit‘s strength saturates your spirit, you realise the rich quality of your faith, and you should never again question the meaning of life.
